
Classes by Dance Style

Ballet
We have instructors that are trained in multiple classical ballet techniques including Vaganova, Balanchine, and Cecchetti. This provides dancers with a well rounded approach to their ballet training and the ability to learn from highly qualified staff. Dancers will learn the fundamental positions, alignment, and steps in the classic technique of this beautiful dance form. Classes include exercises at the barre, in the center floor, and executing traveling steps across the floor dancers build strength, balance, flexibility, stamina, and artistry. Students who take ballet classes will gain confidence, body awareness, and self-discipline as they learn to master increasingly technical moves.
Jazz
Our jazz classes are high energy classes that focus on technique and musicality. These one-hour classes work through a detailed warm-up, across the floor techniques, and combos. Technique includes isolations, turns, leaps, extensions, progressions, combinations, and routines. Instructors will pull from a variety of music and styles to incorporate Broadway, theater, and pop styles throughout the season.


Contemporary/Modern
Our modern and contemporary classes include a fusion of Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, and classical Modern techniques in an expressive way. Dancers learn to express emotion through their movement and interpretation of the music. Classes include a warm up, floorwork, and choreography that promotes expression and artistry. A strong technical foundation in ballet is very beneficial to these classes. *Dancers are welcome to audition for our Company Modern classes!
Hip-Hop
Hip hop dance is a celebration from the birth of street dancing to the full domination of hip-hop in commercial and artistic spaces everywhere.
style of street dance form that evolved from hip hop culture and hip hop music. It borrows elements from a number of different styles like African dance, tap, and ballet. Hip hop dance began as a freestyle dance performed in the streets by dance crews, mostly to hip hop music.
Our hip-hop classes incorporate choreography that is age appropriate and feature strong, upbeat, athletic movement teaching dancers rhythm, coordination, and musicality.


Irish
The Cladach Irish Dancers is a Washington State non-competitive Irish Dance School established in Edmonds in 2004. The name, Cladach (claw-dock), means Seashore, and was inspired by the school's close proximity to the water.
Between 2004 and 2014, the Cladach Irish Dancers expanded to Bellevue, Lynnwood, Shoreline, Bellingham, Lake Stevens, Ellensburg, and Seattle. After a short hiatus, the Cladach Irish Dancers returned to Lynnwood in 2017, and found a home at Haven Dance Academy in 2019. We feature classes for ages 3y-Adult in levels Beginner through Novice. Beginning in 2022, the Cladach Irish Dancers will have opportunities for competition and our Samhain Celebration in October, a Winter performance for Feile Nollaig, multiple St. Patrick's Day performances in March, as well as Recital through Haven Dance Academy in June.
Tap & Combo
Our combo/tap classes are fun classes that teach the fundamentals of jazz, ballet, and tap fusion. Vocabulary, movement, as well as rhythm and musicality will be learned through combinations and across the floor exercises. This is a great class to experience multiple different styles and elements of dance.
