What's In Your Dance Bag?
Every dancer should have a dance bag to organize their dance supplies! They can come dressed in their dance clothes, but should bring the bag along for their water bottle and so they can change shoes once they get to the studio. Find out below about our dress code:
Parent Optional Pre-Ballet, Pre-Ballet, Pre-Ballet II, Ballet I, Ballet I/II, Ballet II, Beginning Ballet
Clothes: Light pink or black leotard, light pink tights, light pink canvas or leather ballet slippers
Hair: ballet bun if possible, pulled out of the face if a bun isn’t feasible
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties and bobby pins, hairbrush
Optional: simple dance skirt, lightweight cardigan or sweater for cold days
Adults in Parent & Me or Parent Optional Classes: wear something easy to move in with socks or ballet slippers
Ballet III, Ballet IV, Intermediate Ballet
Clothes: black leotard, light pink tights, light pink canvas or leather ballet slippers
Hair: ballet bun if possible, half ponytail or hair clips if hair is short
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties and bobby pins, hairbrush
Optional: simple dance skirt, lightweight cardigan/sweater/leg warmers for cold days
Demi-Pointe, Pointe I/II, Pointe II/III
Clothes: black or colored leotard, light pink tights, light pink canvas or leather ballet slippers, demi pointe or pointe shoes, toe pads/lambs wool for pointe
Hair: ballet bun if possible, pulled out of the face if a bun isn’t feasible
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties and bobby pins, hairbrush, sewing kit with needle and thread and safety pins
Optional: simple dance skirt, lightweight cardigan/sweater/leg warmers for cold days
Combo (Ballet/Tap)
Clothes: Light blue or black leotard, light pink tights, light pink canvas or leather ballet slippers, black patent tap shoes
Hair: ballet bun or high ponytail, half ponytail or hair clips if hair is short
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties, hairbrush
Optional: simple dance skirt, lightweight cardigan or sweater for cold days
Theater Jazz/Tap
Clothes: Leotard or fitted top with tights or leggings, black tap shoes, black jazz shoes
Hair: ballet bun or high ponytail, half ponytail or hair clips if hair is short
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties, hairbrush
Musical Theater, Lyrical/Jazz, Company Jazz Classes
Clothes: leggings and fitted t-shirt or tank top, black slip-on or lace-up jazz shoes
Hair: ballet bun or high ponytail, half ponytail or hair clips if hair is short
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties, hairbrush
Contemporary and Modern Classes
Clothes: leggings and fitted t-shirt or tank top, bare feet or contemporary footwear such as dance paws or foot undeez (slips onto the ball of your foot to allow for easier turns)
Hair: ballet bun or high ponytail, half ponytail or hair clips if hair is short
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties, hairbrush
Irish
Clothes: leggings and fitted t-shirt or tank top, black ghillies or black ballet slippers or black jazz shoes
Hair: ponytail, half ponytail or hair clips if hair is short
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties, hairbrush
Hip-Hop, Crew
Clothes: leggings or athletic pants (no jeans) and t-shirt or tank top, indoor-only sneakers designated for dance class
Hair: can be left down or in ponytail
Extras in bag: water bottle
Adult Dance Classes
Clothes: Ballet leotard & light pink tights (dance skirt or athletic shorts optional), or leggings and fitted t-shirt, genre appropriate dance shoes
Hair: ballet bun or hair pulled out of face
Extras in bag: water bottle, extra hair ties, hairbrush
Boys & Men
Clothes: athletic pants and basic t-shirt
Shoes: black ballet slippers for Ballet or Creative dance, indoor-only sneakers designated for dance class for Hip-Hop, genre appropriate shoes for other styles
